Dear Mr. Obama,
Stopping the Oil Spill
The oil spill could be halted in few hours or days if the appropriate approach is employed adequately using common knowledge plenty on scientific literature.
The ‘top kill’ operation just failed because instead of mud, gulf balls, and tires, BP was supposed to use sand, coarse sand, pebbles, marbles, bolts, nails, etc.
Go to any river shore throwing mud, gulf balls, and a marble to see how the rapids respond to the transportation and deposition of such things. A river is diverted with rocks and heavy bodies capable of standing the erosive forces of flowing masses. This is a basic knowledge at my PhD at Soil Erosion and Conservation on the dynamics of detachment, transportation, and deposition of soil aggregate on runoff. I learned it deeply on my PhD at
The well 22 inches spewing about 15,000 barrels a day is carryon an upward flow at the average speed of about 1.2 cm/s certainly having higher speed in the center and lower speed in the border due to dragging effect of a still containment barrier. Heavy particles and specific format objects can percolate easily through the well lumen slowly reducing the speed and allowing smaller and smaller particles till it clog completely. The well 4.5 km deep can be easily clogged by an appropriate approach from Soil Erosion insights dealing with detachment, transport, and deposition of sediments.
Why BP is not doing it?
Just because BP has no PhD in Soil Science in their team to handle the dynamic mass flow complexity, just Geologists.
Mr. Obama, it is so simple to run some trials and gauge the best sediments and objects to percolate downward against an upward flow velocity of 1.2 cm/s and start injecting the appropriate material to clog and halt the oil spill. Also, it is easy to gauge the upward velocity variation from the center outward to the boundaries.
My suggestion to you is just to resign for continuous failing on your leadership. This is my 12th letter demanding respect to science and put appropriate personnel at USPTO to honor my patents that are constantly violated. It is not a surprise if Officials at USPTO are also watching pornography instead of doing their duties. USPTO is running in the same fashion as Mineral Management Service with a deeply malfunctioning patenting system that allows multiple filing using a distorted approach to allow rich parties to reinvent what is already invented disrespecting science, common knowledge and issued patents. Also there is a cozy association between USPTO and huge corporations on patenting affairs.
Shamefully my ‘scientific discovery’ was violated again last week since USPTO is allowing any invention being reinvented as many times as money comes in mainly on Hydrology affairs. You do not care about SCIENCE.
I am not surprised if this letter is ignored again letting my science be violated with the consequences of failing leadership. The consequences come as the oil is gushing from the seabed and teaching Americans about the importance of respecting NATURE and SCIENCE and the importance of HONESTY. Let’s the oil spill and my IP rights be dishonored. Who cares?
